THE BISERKA (MAREE) MATIC MEMORIAL PLAYGROUND
Ban Meata Phrae School for Disadvantaged Children
The late Maree Matic was a volunteer with Mercy International Ltd’s Phrae Project during 2006 and 2007.
Maree was an important part of our team and her enthusiasm for life had a huge influence on the Thai staff, especially Tik and Yu, who she lived with. Maree encouraged everyone she met and people always felt uplifted and happy after spending time with her.
Maree worked closely with Tik and another volunteer, Helen Gardiner (nee Hynes) in the Community Project reaching out to disadvantaged children whose parents were living with HIV Aids. Maree helped with the weekly “Kids Club” and visited families in the community on a weekly basis to help in practical ways.
Maree was with us when we received our first baby (who was born to a HIV+ mother) in November 2007, followed by another three babies in early 2008. Maree had lots of love to share with those needy little ones, and was always holding and cuddling the babies. Sadly however, Maree passed away in August 2014 from cancer and is no longer here to share her love and enthusiasm with these beautiful children.
Maree will always remain part of our team and is remembered with fond and loving memories.
We are planning to build “The Biserka (Maree) Matic Memorial Playground” at our Phrae School which will be opened in May 2015 in her honour. Maree had a heart for the disadvantaged and we know she will be smiling down from Heaven, seeing young, disadvantaged children building a hope filled future at Mercy International’s Phrae School.
If you would like to assist and contribute financially to the construction of this memorial playgound, our donations information page offers you several ways to make your donation.

In loving memory of Maree Matic
